High Performance Banking Analysis
2018, 4th Quarter
An Equitable View of High Performance
All true statistical outliers, data points 1.5 times the interquartile range above the third quartile or below the first quartile, were removed from every metric presented below.
This method of outlier identification ensures that all data based on one-time events, extraordinary items, or extremes were not included in our analysis. This also allows us to illustrate a fair representation of High Performance and what is truly achievable for the average bank.
Defining the Players
As with all our High Performance briefings, we used four assets bands: $50 million to $300 million, $300 million to $1 billion, $1 billion to $3 billion, and $3 billion to $10 billion.
We then broke High Performance down into three groups: “A Players,” those that score in the 90-100th percentile, “B Players,” those that score in the 80-89th percentile, and “C Players,” those that score in the 70-79th percentile.
